How to Connect AdSense To a YouTube Account

Do you want to connect your AdSense account to your YouTube account? To make money on YouTube, you must monetize your YouTube channel. A verified AdSense account must be linked as the first step in the process. YouTube pays you through AdSense. To link your AdSense account to your YouTube channel, your channel must be eligible for monetization. This InfoAdsGoogle article explains how to connect your Google AdSense account to your YouTube account.

What You Should Know

  • To be eligible for YouTube monetization, you must have 4000 public watch hours and 1000 subscribers.
  • Each payee name can only have one AdSense account.
  • Multiple YouTube channels can be linked to a single AdSense account.

Part 1: Making Monetization Possible

1. Launch YouTube in your web browser. Enter or return on your keyboard after typing or pasting https://www.youtube.com into the address bar.

2. On the top-right, click your profile picture. A drop-down menu will appear when you click on the thumbnail of your image in the upper-right corner of the page.
  • If you aren't automatically logged in to your channel, sign in by clicking the blue SIGN IN button in the top-right corner.

3. Select YouTube Studio. It's the second choice from the drop-down menu. This launches YouTube Studio, which allows you to manage your YouTube channel.

4. Monetization should be selected. It's in the left-hand menu. This will bring up a page with a list of the qualifications. If you meet the requirements, a checkmark will appear next to each of the listed qualifications. You will be unable to monetize your channel unless all options are checked. The requirements are as follows:
  • Your channel has 1000 subscribers.
  • Total watch hours: 4000
  • Enable two-factor authentication on your account.
  • There are currently no active Community Guidelines strikes.

5. Click the Apply Now button. If you meet the monetization requirements, a blue button at the bottom will allow you to apply for monetization.
Caution: Do not attempt to game the system in order to meet the monetization requirements. Your application may be denied if YouTube suspects you are subscribing to other channels in exchange for subscriptions to your own channel (sub4sub) or watching other videos in exchange for views (view4view). [1]

6. On the "Review Partner Program terms" card, click START. It's the very first card on the page. The Partner Program terms and conditions are displayed here.

7. Accept the terms of the YouTube Partners Program. To do so, read the contract and check the box next to "I accept the YouTube Partner Program terms." Then click on the Accept terms button.

Part 2: AdSense Integration

1. On the "Sign Up for AdSense" card, press START. Following completion of the first monetization step, you will be able to link your existing AdSense account or create a new one in the second step.
  • You may be prompted to sign in to your YouTube account once more. Enter the email address and password for your YouTube account if prompted.

2. If you already have an AdSense account, select it and click Continue. Select one of the following options from the card's drop-down menu, and then click Continue in the lower-right corner: [2]
  • Yes, I have an account already — If you already have a Google account with an AdSense account, choose this option. You will be prompted to select or sign in to a Google account that has an AdSense account associated with it. You can connect multiple YouTube channels to a single AdSense account.
  • No, I don't have an existing account — Check this box if you don't already have an AdSense account. You will be taken to a page where you can sign up for an AdSense account. You will be asked for some personal information, such as your name, address, and tax information. The process can take up to 30 days, and Google will send you forms to fill out along the way. Make certain that your information is entered correctly. If you already have an AdSense account, do not select this option.
  • I'm not sure — Choose this option if you're unsure whether you already have an AdSense account. There can only be one AdSense account with the same payee name. Select this option if you are unsure whether you have an AdSense account. Signing up for a new AdSense account while already having one can cause the approval process to be delayed [3].

3. Allow some time for your channel to be reviewed. Once your AdSense account has been verified and linked to your YouTube channel, YouTube will review it to ensure that it complies with YouTube's monetization policy. This can take between 10 and 15 days. When YouTube has made a decision, you will be notified via email. By clicking Monetization in YouTube Studio, you can track the progress of your channel's monetization as well as the AdSense approval process.

Part 3: Monetisation Clips / Video

3. Select YouTube Studio. It's the second choice from the drop-down menu. This launches YouTube Studio, which allows you to manage your YouTube channel.

4. Select Content. It's the first option in the left-hand menu. This shows a list of all of your videos.

5. Check the box next to each video that you want to monetize. The checkbox is located to the left of all of the listed videos. Examine all of the videos you want to monetize.

6. Select Edit. It's at the top of the list of videos in the menu bar. This brings up a drop-down menu.

9. Select Videos to Update. It's in the upper-right corner, above the video list. This brings up a dialogue box.

10. Check the box next to "I understand the implications of this action." When you click "Update Videos," it appears at the bottom of the dialogue box.

11. Click the Update Videos button. This refreshes and monetizes all of the videos you've chosen.
